Teen Wolf’s executive producer Jeff Davis sat down with The Hollywood Reporter to discuss the latest death, Dr. Valack, Theo, Scott and Kira, Stiles and more;

Scott’s (Tyler Posey) pack just suffered a serious setback in the fight against the Dread Doctors on Monday’s Teen Wolf.

The latest episode of the MTV drama centered on Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) fighting and killing Donovan (Ashton Moio), who was out for revenge for his father’s accident. Stiles then joined Lydia (Holland Roden) as they tried to get more information from Valack (Steven Brand) about the Dread Doctors. Scott saved Kira (Arden Cho) after she experienced an dangerous electrical reaction at Eichen House, followed by the Dread Doctors tracking down Valack and attacking him.

Series creator Jeff Davis tells The Hollywood Reporter that the big events in the episode will continue to have serious ramifications as season five continues. Stiles will be forever impacted by his fateful fight, while Valack will continue to play a key role on the show as the teens do battle with their vicious foes.

Davis also discusses the downward spiral of Scott and Kira’s relationship, the “terrible things” that Theo (Cody Christian) will soon do and the season’s “dark and dire” path heading to the finale.

Is this the last we’ll see of Valack, and how does his book affect Lydia’s path? How soon will we learn about her possible history with the Dread Doctors?
Definitely not the last you’ll see of Valack. We’ll learn more in the second half of season five about how he gains a level of control over Eichen House. This episode also points Lydia in the direction of figuring out what happened to her in the operating room during her surgery and whether or not it was actually a memory or something stranger.

How will Kira deal with the ramifications of her electric reaction at Eichen House?
Kira will begin to pull away from Scott and her friends, believing that she may be doing more harm than good. This season is all about power going haywire for Kira.

Where is Kira and Scott’s relationship headed? Are there more cute moments — like the one at the end of this episode — on the way?
Unfortunately, this may be one of the last good moments for Kira and Scott. The rise in her power and her lack of control begins to push them apart.

How soon will we learn more about Theo’s connection to the Dread Doctors? Can his character be redeemed?
We’re going to see Theo do some terrible things by the end of the season. Redemption may not be possible for him, especially after we learn more about Theo’s sister. You’ll also learn more about Theo’s bargain with the Dread Doctors by episodes nine and 10.

How does the tone of the second half of the season compare to that of the first, and in what ways does this episode set up what’s to come in the final five episodes? What can you tease about what’s in store in the finale?
As is typical with most of our seasons, things get dark and dire in the latter half. The finale is actually more of a midpoint since our story will continue into the next ten episodes. Scott and his friends will face the possible dissolution of their pack and even their friendships.

What’s next for Stiles and Malia? How will Stiles be affected by the guilt over his fight with his dad’s partner’s son?
Stiles’ guilt will weigh heavily on him during the latter half of this season, and it will begin to push him and Malia apart. There will be too many secrets between them, and it’s going to provide for a lot of conflict. Stiles will be dealing with the fallout of this episode for quite a while.
